Prime Minister: Fight against Covid-19, a protracted battle
Taking part in the meeting of permanent Government members about Covid-19 prevention and control held on August 21st, Vietnamese Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Xuan Phuc stated that the fight against Covid-19 will be a protracted battle until a vaccine for Covid-19 is discovered.
Limiting the spread of Covid-19
Giving a speech at the meeting, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that the Covid-19 prevention and control has taken place comprehensively, synchronously and drastically.
People seems to be more patient. Up to now, Vietnam has centrally controlled the epidemic. However, it is not allowed to be subjective. The place in which there is some new case of Covid-19 confirmed must be blocked in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
According to PM Phuc, although the epidemic is rather complex, it is under control. Vietnam is gaining the initiative in the prevention and control of Covid-19, even in the major hotspots such as Da Nang, Quang Nam and Hai Duong.
It is the result from the efforts of the entire political system under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the broad consensus in the country.
In the epidemic, the Vietnamese spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance- a honourable national tradition has been shown.
In the complicated context of the Covid-19 epidemic in the world and in Vietnam, PM Phuc asked every ministry and service, especially the Ministry of Health, to make every effort to prevent the epidemic from spread in communities.
Faster response to Covid-19
PM Phuc said that the national and local Covid-19 testing system and capacity should be improved in order to save time and facilitate people while Covid-19 is soon detected. It is necessary to pay more attention to the group of patients at risk of mortality.
The staff of healthcare have to take care of themselves and to be ready for fast response to emergency. It is necessary to streamline patients properly and attach special importance to national preventive healthcare.
PM Phuc also talked about cultural behaviours in the context of Covid-19 such as wearing face masks in public places. He encouraged people to install Bluezone application for the prevention and control of Covid-19.
Besides, the problems of economic maintenance and development were also mentioned. PM Phuc asked businesses to keep on their production but obey the regulations of distancing and of the epidemic prevention and control.
