Bettering the relationship between the U.S and Quang Nam

The delegations of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S. Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City have just had a working visit to Quang Nam province.

At the meeting, the U.S. Consul General in Ho Chi Minh Marie C. Damour, on behalf of the U.S. Government, the U.S. Diplomatic Mission, felt sorry for human and economic losses Quang Nam authorities and people suffered due to natural disasters including storms and floods.

She said the U.S. Government would take action to support Quang Nam people in particular and Vietnamese people in general  to overcome the difficulties.

 In reply, Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee Ho Quang Buu thanked for the U.S. delegation’s visit, feelings and support to Quang Nam.

At the same time, Vice Chairman Buu highly appreciated the support of the U.S. Government, including the USAID projects that have been implemented in Quang Nam.

He wished the U.S. to support Quang Nam continuously to reach other USAID projects on biodiversity and forest management, contributing to the fight against climate change.

Besides, he hoped the U.S. delegation will be a bridge to connect Quang Nam and U.S. investors, especially in fields of high-tech industries, electronics and digital transformation.

Marie C. Damour said the American Business Association in Da Nang was established in June, 2020. Therefore, the association can help Quang Nam province call for investment from the U.S.

Marie C. Damour also appreciated Vietnam in the prevention of the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, on behalf of the U.S. Government, she thanked Vietnamese Government and people for supporting the U.S with medical masks in the Covid-19 prevention. The action proved the Vietnam-U.S. bilateral relationship over the past 20 years.

USAID Vietnam Mission Director Ann Marie Yastishock congratulated Vietnam on fulfilling the role as ASEAN Chair 2020.  She emphasized that Vietnam plays an important role in the U.S. Pacific strategy.

So, the U.S. Government wanted to continue to support Vietnam in many aspects, including international security maintenance, transnational crime combat ... on the basis of mutual belief and respect for sovereignty and political institutions.

Earlier, the U.S. delegation visited and shared difficulties with people who are affected by floods and storms in Tam Thang commune (Tam Ky city, Quang Nam province).
