Quang Nam - FAO cooperation on rural and agriculrural sectors
(QNO) - Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu chaired a working session with the delegation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Vietnam on April 5.
At the reception, Vice Chairman Buu said, despite being affected by Covid-19, Quang Nam's agricultural sector still maintained a growth rate of 3.5%, agricultural GRDP (Gross Regional Domestic Product) in the first quarter of 2022 accounted for 11. 24%.
The rural economy has made remarkable progresses; the new rural construction has achieved a lot of achievements. Currently, per capita income in Quang Nam rural areas is more than 40.5 million VND.
At the working session, FAO Representative in Vietnam Rémi Nono Womdim informed of the Vietnam – FAO cooperation in the period 2022 -2026 on different fields such as such climate change response; transformation of production system, supply and sustainable consumption, stable livelihoods for local people.
FAO will accompany Vietnam to its socio-economic development, especially in agriculture.
FAO is ready to support Quang Nam to build smart agriculture and digital transformation in the agricultural sector, people in buffer zones of biodiversity conservation and management areas with livelihoods, and mountainous people with suitable economic models for poverty alleviation.
At the meeting, FAO and Quang Nam authorities committed to closely cooperate in the coming time for further development in Quang Nam agricultural and rural areas.
