Quang Nam - Champasak cooperation

(QNO) - Quang Nam and Champasak are promoting cooperation in the fields of economy, commercial investment, tourism and services, logistics, agriculture and forestr.

This cooperation aims to bring into play all the local potential and advantages, complete the East-West economic corridor, impulse the socioeconomic development of the two provinces.

This content was discussed and approved at the high-level meeting between Quang Nam (Vietnam) and Champasak (Laos) occurring in Tam Ky city of Quang Nam province last weekend.

According to Phan Viet Cuong, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Quang Nam provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Council of Quang Nam Province, it is necessary for Quang Nam and Champasak to cooperate with each other to jointly exploit their similar potential and advantages of cultural values, tourism, agriculture and forestry, commercial investment, and logistics for the socioeconomic development of each province.

Quang Nam has always helped Champasak with their human resources training, calling for investment in Champasak, etc.

At the same time, it is important to speed up the linkage between Champasak, Southern Laos, Quang Nam and the Central Key Economic Region of Vietnam through the Nam Giang International Border Gate.

Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh suggested that the two parties should reinforce the investment promotion and advertising of local typical products to foster the trading exchange between Quang Nam and Champasak.

The two provinces should speed up their administrative reform, facilitating the investment and trade; building and upgrading local infrastructure, completing the East-West economic corridor.

Besides, the two provinces will continue foster the cooperation in several fields, including tourism, culture, education and training; cultural exchange and tourism promotion; sharing the experience on heritage conservation, restoration and promotion.
