(QNO) - On August 8, the delegation of the National Assembly (NA) of Laos led by President Pany Yathotou had a working visit to Hoi An city, Quang Nam province by the invitation of leaders of the NA of Vietnam and Quang Nam on the occasion of the 55th Anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties (September 5) and 40 years of Singing the treaty of amity and cooperation between the two countries (July 18).

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee Le Van Thanh briefly informed his guests of the provincial advantages for economic growth. Quang Nam owns two world cultural heritages of Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary, a beautiful 125km-coastline, Cham Islands World Biosphere Reserve and Dac Ta Ooc border gate to Laos. Tourism is the key of Quang Nam’s economic development. In the first 6 months of 2017, the province received 2.62 million tourists, up 21% compared to the same period of 2016 including 1.53 million international tourists and 1.09 million domestic ones.

President Pany Yathotou thanked for the warm welcome from the NA of Vietnam and from Quang Nam province. At the same time, she affirmed the working visit would importantly contribute to the intension and promotion of the great friendly relations, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Lao and Vietnamese Parities, Governments and NAs as well as Quang Nam (Vietnam) and Sekong (Laos) provinces.
