According to statistics from the Hoi An Office of Tourist Service (Quang Nam province), in the first month of the Lunar New Year 2024, international tourists buying tickets to visit Hoi An ancient town reached nearly 155,000 arrivals, an increase of 71.8% compared to the same period in 2023.
Among them, international tourist arrivals increased by 79.2%, mainly from South Korea, China, Thailand, Japan, Spain, France, and Germany. Especially, tourists travelling in groups from Europe also increased.
Coming to Hoi An on the Lunar New Year holiday 2024, Ha Tan Long, a tourist from Ha Giang province, said he loves Hoi An because the city is very beautiful and peaceful.
During the Lunar New Year holiday of the Dragon, Hoi An welcomed about 300,000 - an increase of 35% over the same period in 2023.
Hoi An city also recorded a rapid increase in tourist arrivals from neighboring countries in Southeast Asia, such as Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia. Malaysian tourists ranked 5th among countries sending the most tourists to Hoi An.
The Hoi An tourism industry has gradually recovered, with the international tourist market accounting for over 70%.
In 2024, Hoi An strives to become a high-quality destination for green tourism, based on the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage, the preservation of natural resources, and environmental protection.
Hoi An will improve the method of selling sightseeing tickets in the form of digitized tickets and apply smart tourism to improve service quality, making it more convenient for tourists to visit and experience the city.
The city aims to welcome 4.3 million tourist arrivals in 2024, including more than 3.2 million international visitors and more than 1 million domestic visitors. Tourism industry revenue reaches about VND 4,540 billion, an increase of 9.64% compared to 2023.
