VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh left Hanoi on November 8 for Phnom Penh to pay an official visit to Cambodia and attend the 40th and 41st ASEAN summits and related meetings.
This is the first official visit to Cambodia by the Vietnamese Prime Minister, and it is also the first time he has physically attended the ASEAN Summits after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and related meetings including ASEAN +1, ASEAN +3, East Asia Summit, and ASEAN-US summit are scheduled to take place in Phnom Penh from November 10-13, marking the resumption of in-person exchanges and dialogues between the regional leaders after more than two years of interruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This will be an opportunity for the leaders to examine efforts to build the ASEAN Community, strengthen the grouping’s solidarity and centrality, and discuss the relationship between ASEAN and its partners, as well as many other strategic issues regionally and globally.
On this occasion, the second ASEAN Global Dialogue will be also held with the participation of the leaders of ASEAN countries and representatives of international organizations such as the World Bank, World Trade Organization, World Health Organization, International Monetary Fund, and Asian Development Bank to discuss economic recovery efforts in the region and the wider world.
At these meetings, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh are scheduled to make important speeches to share Vietnam’s views and initiatives to strengthen ASEAN’s solidarity, centrality and linkages, promote regional cooperation in areas of mutual interest, and foster relations between ASEAN and its partners. He will also share Vietnam’s views on regional and international issues with a balanced and harmonious approach.
