Overloaded Japanese Bridge

(QNO) – Japanese Bridge (Hoi An city, Quang Nam province) is in the situation of being overloaded with visitors. So, Hoi An People’s Committee has required travel agencies to limit the number of visitors across this bridge to 20 maximum per turn in order to ensure the safety of visitors and minimize the bad impact on the heritage.

Japanese Bridge is crowded with visitors.

According to Mr. Nguyen Chi Trung – Head of the Hoi An Centre of Heritage Conservation and Management, the Japanese Bridge has been downgraded so far. One of the causes of this state is the shake caused by going to and fro on the bridge so much.

There are averagely about 4,000 people visiting Japanese Bridge every day. The damaged state of the bridge becomes worse and worse; and it is in danger of collapse. The city’s authority has consequently required travel agencies to strictly obey the policy on adjusting the number of people over the bridge.
