The project on Ngoc Linh Nature Reserve establishment has just been announced by the Greater Mekong Sub-region Biodiversity Conservation Corridor Project (phase 2), the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Quang Nam province, Bank of Asia and the Nam Tra My Management Board of protective forests.

The Ngoc Linh Nature Reserve covers an area of 14,883 hectares in Tra Linh, Tra Cang, Tra Tap and Tra Leng communes (Nam Tra My district).

The reserve includes 2 subdivisions- one for strict protection and another for ecological restoration. Its buffer zones belong to Tra Leng, Tra Don, Tra Tap, Tra Cang and Tra Linh communes. The cost for implementation is estimated at 29,360 million Vietnamese Dongs.

Strict protection subdivision The Ngoc Linh Nature Reserve is set up to protect and preserve wildlife, to create a biodiversity corridor throughout the Central Truong Son range and to rescue rare species in danger of extinction.

Besides, it will be a place for scientific researches relating to forest resources, forest ecosystem, flora and fauna, biodiversity, conservation and development of rare genetic resources.

The reserve will also help raise the locals’ awareness of natural conservation and environmental protection.
