(QNO) - Quang Nam's goal is to develop Ngoc Linh Ginseng, a Vietnam's national treasure, into one of the key economic sectors, contributing to increasing income and developing living standards.
Quang Nam is planning to develop the manufacturing and processing of Ngoc Linh ginseng into a provincial key economic sector, contributing to increasing the local income and developing their socio-economic life, especially in mountainous ethnic minority areas.
Quang Nam currently has about 15,567 hectares of Ngoc Linh ginseng. Among them are about 848.2 hectares used for rent.
The province is developing the Ngoc Linh Ginseng production area in an industrial direction, creating commodity products, improving production values and efficiency, and becoming a centre for the pharmaceutical industry in Quang Nam.
In addition, Quang Nam will supply Ngoc Linh ginseng seedlings that meet standards for quality and quantity (about 500,000 seedlings a year) by 2030.
There will be 50 to 100 Ngoc Linh ginseng gardens. Besides, Quang Nam is also making every effort to make the geographical indication for Ngoc Linh ginseng products..
The total output is about 100 tons of Ngoc Linh ginseng roots aged 5 years or older.
Quang Nam hopes to welcome 100 to 150 organisations and individuals investing in planting and developing the ginsengs.
Quang Nam will become a centre for producing and supplying Ngoc Linh ginseng, making Ngoc Linh ginseng an international brand product with high export values, creating an important source of revenue for the locality, and contributing to improving the local socio-economic life.
At present, Quang Nam is starting to preserve Ngoc Linh ginseng, associated with the processing and trading of Ngoc Linh ginseng products.
