Ngoc Linh ginseng roots certificated the geographical indication

(QNO) - National Office of Intellectual Property of Viet Nam (under Ministry of Science and Technology) has certificated the geographical indication (GI) No.00049 for Ngoc Linh ginseng roots of Quang Nam and Kon Tum provinces.

Accordingly, Departments of Science and Technology of Quang Nam and Kon Tum are responsible for managing the GI. The protected areas are Mang Ri, Ngoc Lay communes (Tu Mo Rong District, Kon Tum) and Tra Linh commune (Nam Tra My District, Quang Nam) belonging to Ngoc Linh Mountain. The GI shows the specific characteristics of the vegetation and soil, the process of manufacturing and processing ginseng, and the quality of the product. The GI protects the trade mark, the origin, and the quality of Ngoc Linh ginseng roots, helping it to become a typical product of Vietnam.
