(QNO) - Vietnam or Ngoc Linh ginseng has just been added on the list of national products which belong to the National Product Development Programme until 2020.
Ngoc Linh ginseng is used for treatment of diseases by Xe Dang ethnic people living at the foot of the highest mountain in Central Vietnam. This tree was widely known in 1973 and called as Ngoc Linh ginseng by pharmacist Dao Kim Long, who was commissioned to research on precious medicines to treat soldiers’ diseases. In September 2015, the Government of Vietnam ratified a project to develop Ngoc Linh ginseng until 2030 by widening the Ngoc Linh ginseng garden in 7 communes of Nam Tra Mi district with an area of 30,000ha and the investment capital of over VND9,000 billion in which the state budget accounts for VND1,500 billion, and the rest from the socializing capital.
As a part of the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017, the Ngoc Linh ginseng festival with the theme of Ngoc Linh Legend will be organized in Tra Mai commune, Nam Tra Mi district from June 10-13.
