It is an important political event of the province to introduce and honor the traditional values, affirm the role and great contributions of the land and people of Quang Nam to Vietnam’s maintenance and growth, and show the Quang Nam current generation’s gratefulness to their forefathers.

Reportedly, 550 years ago (1471), King Le Thanh Tong issued a decree to establish the 13th administrative unit called Quang Nam Thua Tuyen Dao of Dai Viet.

It consisted of 3 districts: Thang Hoa, Tu Nghia and Hoai Nhon (provinces and cities of Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh today).

Dai Viet was a Vietnamese kingdom in eastern Mainland Southeast Asia from the 10th century AD to the early 19th century, centered around the region of present-day Hanoi.

“Quang Nam” meaning "expanding to the South" contains great historical significance in the long-term development of the nation, expressing King Le Thanh Tong’s progressive mindset, strategic vision and wishes of the important land in Southern Vietnam.
