Strengthening cooperation between Quang Nam and South Korea

(QNO) - Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh chaired a meeting with a South Korean delegation led by Ms. Oh Youngju - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam on March 22.

At the meeting, Chairman Thanh informed his guests of the potential, strengths and socio-economic achievements of Quang Nam province over the past years.

At present, Quang Nam attracts 57 projects from South Korea with a total registered capital of more than 864.12 million USD. Quang Nam has established friendly and cooperative relations with three localities and one partner of South Korea.

In addition, the Government of South Korea provided Quang Nam with tens of millions of USD via official development assistance for healthcare and education projects.

Chairman Thanh also hoped the South Korean diplomat will be a bridge between Quang Nam and investors in her country in the fields of green industry, healthcare, health tourism. 

Quang Nam wishes to cooperate with South Korea in aspects of human resource training, tourism development.

In reply, Ambassador Oh Youngju expressed her gratitude for Quang Nam leader’s respectful welcome. She wanted Quang Nam province to iron out difficulties facing South Korean businesses.

She said South Korea expects Quang Nam's role in promoting cooperative relations between Central Vietnam’s provinces and South Korea's localities and partners.

Chairman Thanh agreed with the above mentioned suggestions made by the guest, affirming that Quang Nam will provide maximum support to solve the difficulties facing South Korean enterprises operating in the locality.

On this occasion, Chairman Thanh presented the Certificate of Merit to the South Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for its contribution to the provincial socio-economic development in recent years.
