(QNO) - The comprehensive cooperation between Quang Nam (Vietnam) and Sekong (Laos) has been developed from the traditional cooperative and friendly relations between the two provinces.
Quang Nam and Sekong have recently cooperated in border management and stability, investment promotion, import and export, human resources training, etc.
Besides, Quang Nam has helped Sekong with energy development; building houses of gratitude, centres for disease control, mini libraries; providing scholarships for Lao students studying in Quang Nam.
Quang Nam also encouraged local businesses, especially THACO, to invest in Sekong.
At the same time, Quang Nam will invest more in the Nam Giang - Dac Ta Ooc border gate economic zone, promoting the export and import through the Nam Giang - Dac Ta Ooc border gate.
According to General Director of THACO Pham Van Tai, the corporation will expand its investment projects in Laos and Cambodia, including agricultural projects in Sekong province, ensuring the scale of the closed supply value chain in the Southern Laos region.
The investment will support sustainable socio-economic development in Sekong.
Mr. Tai asked Sekong to facilitate the investment of Quang Nam businesses, including THACO.
Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee Phan Viet Cuong requested Sekong to coordinate to exploit electricity from the Nam Emoun hydropower plant as planned.
In addition, Sekong has to promote the application of information technology, reform administrative procedures, install equipment at the international border gate to quickly resolve immigration procedures, import and export, and customs clearance through the border gates of the two countries.
