(QNO) - A high-level meeting between Quang Nam (Vietnam) and Champasak (Laos) has recently been held in Tam Ky.
The meeting focused on the socio-economic situation and cooperation between the two provinces.
Present at the event were Vilayvong Bouddakham (Secretary of the Champasack provincial Party Committee, Governor of Champasack province), Phan Viet Cuong (Secretary of the Quang Nam provincial Party Committee), Le Tri Thanh (Chairman of the People’s Committee of Quang Nam Province), Souphanh Hadaoheuang (Consul General of Laos in Da Nang city), Nguyen Van Trung (Consul General of Vietnam in Pakse- capital of Champasak province) and others.
Give a speech at the event, Phan Viet Cuong highly appreciated the Champasack delegation’s working visit. It showed the great friendship, special solidarity and the spirit of comprehensive cooperation for the development of Quang Nam and Champasack.
At the same time, the meeting was a good opportunity for the cooperation of the two provinces in the time to come.
Besides, Phan Viet Cuong talked about Quang Nam provincial advantages and potential for the local socio-economic growth and for the development of Southern Lao localities along the East- West corridor.
According to Phan Viet Cuong, the Quang Nam- Champasack relationship is a long-lasting friendliness which has been consolidated.
Reportedly, the Quang Nam- Champasack cooperation has been effective and successful in different fields, which contributes to consolidating the good relationship between the two provinces.
The two parties have facilitated the investment and trade cooperation, and tourism development; experience exchange of restoration, preservation and promotion of the world cultural heritages.
Moreover, the transportation system linking the two provinces is being carried out; it will creates favorable conditions for doing business through the Nam Giang- Dac Ta Ooc international border gates.
In addition, Quang Nam has helped Champasack with human resources training and development through yearly scholarships given to Lao students.
According to Vilayvong Bouddakham, the Quang Nam- Champasack relationship has continuously developed over time.
A lot of cooperation activities and programmes have been implemented, especially in calling for investment in Laos, trade and tourism.
He wished to receive more investment capital from Quang Nam, contributing to improving Lao people’s lives.
