(QNO) - A press conference on the 16th Conference of ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Information (AMRI-16) and AMRI+3 took place on the morning of September 23.

On behalf of the ministers in charge of information in ASEAN and ASEAN +3, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam announced the outstanding results of AMRI and AMRI+3. It was the AMRI Vision Statement “ASEAN 2035: Towards a transformative, adaptive and resilient information and communications industry”.

At the same time, the ministers focused on dealing with challenges and taking advantage of opportunities from rapid digital convergence and transformation after 2025; highlighting the importance of digital transformation in media in empowering individuals, communities and societies, and moving from passive information consumption to active knowledge acquisition; and encouraging ASEAN member states to develop a digital transformation master plan for press and media.

Additionally, AMRI-16 adopted the Da Nang declaration on media: From information to knowledge for a resilient and adaptive ASEAN; Action plan of the ASEAN task force on fake news, controlling and preventing fake news, etc.

The ministers also highly appreciated the activities/ projects on improving the capacity for the information and communications industry.

The 17th Conference of AMRI will be held in Brunei Darussalam by 2025.
