(QNO) – The opening ceremony of the Neu pole setting rites and Vietnamese ethnic minorities’ cultural exchanges took place at the central square of Tay Giang district, Quang Nam province on June 11th. It is an event of the 6th Quang Nam Heritage Festival 2017.
Present at the event were Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hai Nhung- Head of the Ethnic Culture Department (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), leaders of Quang Nam province and provincial services, local residents and visitors.

The opening of the event called Quang Nam highland’s special features consists of original art performances bringing breath and colours of Vietnam’s mountainous areas.

The event lasts from June 11th to 13th with the participation of 600 artisans of 15 ethnic minorities from 14 provinces and cities in the country. There are a lot of activities occurring such as the Neu pole rites, traditional art performances, the exhibition of ethnic minorities’ cultures, and some sports and tourism activities.

Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People's Committee Le Tri Thanh gave a speech at the opening ceremony that the event is an opportunity for Quang Nam to introduce the ethnic minorities’ cultural values to public, to impulse the local socio-economic development and strengthen the solidarity of Vietnamese ethnic communities.

It is also an opportunity for Quang Nam and other localities to promote tourism potentials through cultural characters, costumes, rituals, beliefs, and traditional cultural activities. At the same time, the event helps artisans and public actors exchange their experiences, raising their awareness of cultural values preservation.

According to Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hai Nhung, the appearances of the Neu pole of different ethnic groups are different, but they have a good common meaning of human life. The pole is a symbol of both architecture and spirit in the ethnic traditional rites.

The Neu pole rites also reappear the ethnic aspirations for the spiritual, warm and happy life, strengthening the solidarity in the ethnic community.
