Nameplates attached to Nam Giang border gate and Hoi An embankment

(QNO) - A ceremony to attach the nameplate to Nam Giang national border gate was held at the Nam Giang-Dac Ta Ooc border gate economic zone (BGEZ) (La Dee commune, Nam Giang district) on 21 March. Present at the ceremony was Standing Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee Huynh Khanh Toan.

The Nam Giang national border gate started to be constructed in October, 2014 and came into operation in December, 2016 at the Sub-area 1 of Nam Giang BGEZ. The construction covering an area of ​​2,827m2 was invested over 27 billion by the Management Board of the provincial Industrial Zones. Till now, some items of the Gate have been completed, including the National Gate, the garden, strips and the ground. According to Vice Chairman Huynh Khanh Toan, the construction is very important to the socio-economic development in the mountainous area, bringing into play the regional potentials and advantages, and extending comprehensive exchange and cooperation with Laos. It is also symbolic of the Nam Giang border gate area, contributing to the improvement of border infrastructure, bettering residents’ lives.

* On the same day, the embankment to protect Hoi An ancient town was also attached sign. Representatives of Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee were present at the event.

The embankment project started on November 16, 2015, including a 780-meter embankment from Japanese Bridge to Cam Nam ward made of reinforced concrete; dredging riverbeds; renovation of pavements, drainage system, upgrading roads, environmental landscape and lighting system. The project was invested more than VND135 billion, VND 80 billion of which was from the central budget for the support program to respond to climate change and the rest from the local budget. Its aims are to prevent floods; to ensure the safety of ancient buildings; to mitigate the impact of climate change on the local lives; to raise the adaptability to climate change; to beautify the local ecological landscapes.
