(QNO) - An opera project entitled Princess Anio has recently been launched at Ha Noi Opera House by the Centre for Culture, Sports, and Broadcasting of Hoi An city (Quang Nam province).
The project is inspired by the beautiful love story of Princess Ngoc Hoa and Japanese merchant Araki Sotaro.
They fell in destiny love with each other and then got married after getting over the obstacles from Lord Nguyen Phuc Nguyen- her adoptive father.
The Princess Ngoc Hoa - Japanese merchant Araki Sotaro love story has become well-known in both Hoi An (Quang Nam, Vietnam) and Nagasaki (Japan). It marked an important milestone in the relationship between Vietnam and Japan.
The wedding ceremony of Princess Ngoc Hoa and Araki Sotaro is usually performed on the occasion of the Hoi An- Japan cultural exchange.
It is noteworthy that a copy of the red seal ship - the ship bringing Ngoc Hoa to Japan was also offered to Hoi An city by Nagasaki in October 2017. It is now exhibited on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street.
Honna Tetsuji- General Director of the project said that he wanted to create a famous work to be handed down to future generations.
Historical experts and consultants from Vietnam and Japanese also take part in the project to make sure of its content.
The project is expected to premiere at Hanoi Opera House in September 2023 on the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations.
