(QNO) - A delegation of the National Assembly (NA) of Lao PDR led by its Vice Chairman Khambay Damlath had a working visit to Quang Nam province on the morning of February 25.
At the reception for the Lao delegation, Secretary of the Quang Nam provincial Party Committee Phan Viet Cuong informed his guests of the local socio-economic growth over the 25 years.
Mr. Cuong said the Vietnam - Laos great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation are more and more developed, supporting for the two countries’ development.
Notably, various meaningful activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1962 - 2022) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (1977 - 2022) between Vietnam and Laos were successfully organised by the two sides.
Particularly, the two provinces of Quang Nam and Se Kong (Laos) have been twinned since 1984 (when Quang Nam was of Quang Nam - Da Nang province).
Then, two provincial authorities have regularly exchanged and helped each other to overcome difficulties such as natural disasters and epidemics.
Since 2007, Quang Nam province has provided training scholarships to more than 1,500 officials and students from Sekong and Champasak provinces of Laos.
Secretary Cuong hoped the friendship and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Laos will be better.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman of Lao NA Khambay Damlath highly appreciated the outstanding results Quang Nam has achieved over the past 25 years.
He said the visit aimed to cultivate and tighten the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries Laos - Vietnam.
