A Japanese delegation from Kinokawa city in Wakayama Prefecture led by its Mayor Nakamura Shinji paid a visit to Quang Nam province on the afternoon of January 10.
Standing Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee Huynh Khanh Toan gave them a courtesy reception.
At the meeting, he talked about typical economic achievements of Quang Nam province in 2019 and Japanese businesses in Quang Nam. The Vietnam-Japan trade relationship which happened through Hoi An trade port 400 years ago was also reminded as the start of the Vietnam-Japan relations.
According to Toan, Quang Nam leaders are very interested in special fruit and the closed methodical agricultural development process in Kinokawa.
So, Quang Nam wanted to learn about Kinokawa’s methods and experiences in the development of hi-tech agriculture. Besides, Quang Nam is also paying attention to cultural exchange and cooperation with Kinokawa through the image of lotus – Vietnam’s national flower.
It is reported that a ceremony of offering and planting Oga lotus (a type of ancient Japanese lotus) took place in Dien Ban town (Quang Nam province) on January 11. Oga lotus flower is considered as another symbol of Quang Nam-Japan relationship besides Japanese Bridge in Hoi An.
According to Mr. Nakamura Shinji, Vietnamese lotus was planted in Kinokawa city 7 years ago and the lotus festival is annually organized in this city.
Kinokawa is an agricultural city that is famous for its fruit such as peaches, persimmons and apricots. Therefore, Kinokawa wants to share the experience in agricultural development with Quang Nam.
Mr. Nakamura Shinji also stated that the relationship between Vietnam and Japan is closer and closer. At the same time, the Quang Nam- Kinokawa relationship through cultural exchanges via lotus is also nice.
