(QNO) - A delegation from the Italian Development Cooperation Agency had a working session with the People’s Committee of Tam Ky city on November 15, 2023.
The working session focused on the project on coastal protection in Tam Thanh commune.
According to a leader of Tam Ky city, Tam Thanh is often affected by storms and the impact of landslides and sea erosion threatens the local residents’ safety.
Therefore, Tam Ky suggested a project on strengthening the embarkment and planting coastal protection forests in Tam Thanh commune.
It includes the reinforcement of the existing 5.5km coastal embarkment and the concrete pavement, as well as planting protective trees along the embarkment.
At the same time, an additional 5-hectare coastal protection forest will be planted, contributing to directly protecting the living places of nearly 6,000 people in Tam Thanh commune, indirectly protecting the lives of nearly 150,000 people in Tam Ky city, and facilitating local economic and tourism development.
The project is expected to cost over VND 49.5 billion, equivalent to nearly 2 million euros. The non-refundable ODA capital is over VND 40.2 billion, and the rest comes from local counterpart sources.
At the meeting, the representative of the Italian DCA said that the project profile was highly appreciated. The delegation had a survey on Tam Thanh beach in the late afternoon.
