The Bauxite ore transport pipeline from Laos to Vietnam project started

(QNO) - The discussion on investment for the project of building the bauxite ore transport pipeline from Laos to Vietnam to export through Ky Ha Port (Quang Nam province) was held on 25th September between Vietnam Construction and Import - Export Joint Stock Corporation (Vinaconex) and Laos Minerals Company (LSM). Mr Le Phuoc Thanh, Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee, participated and presided over the meeting.This 300 million ton reserves bauxite mine  located in Sekong - Attapu highlands, at about 1,150m above the sea level and enlarging toward western Vietnam. This bauxite resource contains 47% of aluminum content. The zone for exploiting bauxite ore is big and the taken off land surface is thin in compare with the present altitude. The  pipeline to transport bauxite ore will be designed on the highest standards of the international transporting pipeline industrial production. It will be manufactured by present reliable and most advanced technology and equipments. The process of managing, operating checking and controlling the transporting pipeline system will be completely implemented by computers.The total length of the pipeline is 184-240km with transporting capacity of 7-10 million tons per year. The total preliminary investment expenditure (no including customs tax and expenditure of land clearance, electricity and water supply) is about 250 million USD; the expenditure for operating the transport pipeline is about 5 million USD per year… The report of pre-feasibility study of the project is expectedly completed by November 2013.After assessing the bad effects and influences as well as economic and social benefits,  Chairman Le Phuoc Thant agreed to permit the investor to carry out a survey of the pipeline investment project. Mr Thanh also asked the relevant departments of Quang Nam province to supply all necessary information to the investor in the process of carrying out the survey.PV
