(QNO) - Kites from dozens of countries around the world came together at the Quang Nam International Kite Festival 2024, creating a vivid, colourful "feast" along the coastline in Duy Xuyen district (Quang Nam province).
A brilliant summer
As part of the series of tourism promotion activities for 2024 themed Quang Nam-The Green Heritage Site, the Quang Nam International Kite Festival 2024 took place from July 27 to 29, 2024, at the beach of the Hoiana Resort (Tay Son Tay village, Duy Hai commune, Duy Xuyen district).
Present at the festival were kite teams from 13 countries and territories, including India, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, China, Australia, Vietnam, Taiwan (China), and Hong Kong (China).
The teams provided stunning artistic kite performances with around 100 different types of kites, along with a colourful kite exhibition space.
According to Steven Wolstenholme, Chairman and CEO of Hoiana, the resort offered visitors a festival space, a perfect combination between kite artistry and the most premium recreational and entertainment activities, contributing to making Quang Nam (including Hoiana) a tourist attraction.
It is hoped that Vietnam will soon become an official member of the Southeast Asian Kite Association through the first International Kite Festival held in Quang Nam, contributing to the preservation and promotion of the Asian kite traditions.
Tourism promotion
The Quang Nam International Kite Festival 2024 provided an opportunity for artisans from Vietnam and other countries around the world to exchange, share, preserve, and promote kite flying and kite making. Moreover, the event was expected to contribute to attracting more visitors to Quang Nam.
Visitors to the Quang Nam Kite Festival 2024 in Hoiana were able to spend their time on many famous destinations in Quang Nam that are not far from Hoiana, such as the Hoi An ancient town, the My Son Sanctuary, the Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An World Biosphere Reserve, and the Vietnam Heroic Mother Statue.
At the same time, they were able to enjoy traditional folk arts, such as Bai Choi performance art, and discover the local culinary treasures there.
The Quang Nam Kite Festival 2024 is expected to grow into an international cultural, artistic, and tourism event and will be held annually in Quang Nam.
