Teachers at free Japanese class for kids in Hoi An

The teachers in the free Japanese class at 39 Nguyen Thai Hoc street (Hoi An city, Quang Nam province) Abe Toru and Hyrorata, who love Hoi An ancient town and children here, are over 60 years old and very experienced. Every Tuesday afternoon, Mr Abe Toru wears a Western costume and a pair of wooden sandals or geta ( traditional Japanese footwear), opens the door to welcome students happily. Being attracted by Vietnam’s people and landscapes, Abe Toru decided to work in Ho Chi Minh City 13 years ago. He is a retired engineer now and becomes a Japanese teacher in Hoi An. The class is the result of the ideas from Hyrorata, Chief of the Tokyo Shirubakai Art Troupe at the Hoi An-Japan Cultural Exchange Festival 2015. The class is expected to last 10 years so that the future generation in Hoi An continues to build the friendship and cooperative relationship between the two countries Vietnam-Japan.

According to Director of Hoi An Center for Culture and Sports Vo Phung, students in the class not only learn Japanese language, life and communicative skills but also Japanese culture, morality and ritual- a nice cultural interference inside the Hoi An ancient town.

Rudy van Bork and his coworkers from Netherlands organize many significant activities to raise a fund for the poor children and tourism advertisement in Quang Nam including “MONSTER SWIM VIETNAM”. At present, Rudy van Bork has many projects of tourism advertisement in Hoi An ancient town at his coffeehouse here.
