It is part of the 19th Hoi An - Japan Cultural Exchange 2023.

Present at the incense-offering ceremony were Japanese Consul General in Da Nang city Yakabe Yoshinori, Deputy Chief of JICA Representative Office in Vietnam Shinoda Takanobu and others.

Tomb of merchant Tani Yajirobei is one of three Japanese tombs in Hoi An built in the 17th century.

According to a legend, in the 17th century, when the Emperor of Japan promulgated the closed-door policy over trading overseas, merchant Tani Yajirobei came back his homeland from Hoi An city. But he decided returned to Quang Nam later to live with his lover - a girl in Hoi An until his death.

The relic is also an evidence of the good relationship between Japanese traders and Hoi An residents during the prosperous international trading port of Hoi An city in the early 17th century as well as the friendship between the Vietnamese and Japanese peoples.
