Hydroponic vegetable farming

(QNO) - After two years of implementation, the model of hydroponic vegetable planting by 23-year-old Huynh Nghiep (Quang Nam province) has been successful amazingly.

His hydroponic vegetable garden covers an area of more than three hectares with intial investment capital of approximately VND600 million. Different vegetables such as salad, water spinach which are planted in his garden are supplied for local restaurants and supermarkets in Quang Nam province and Da Nang city.

Sponge cubes and coconut fibers are used in Nghiep’s hydroponic vegetable planting.

Nghiep said he had learned the model of clean vegetable farimg in Thailand. This model requires some certain skills and techniques from choosing seeds and taking care of vegetables, preventing pests’ attack, reducing production expenditure.

Vegetables are planted without soil. The seeds will germinate on sponge cubes and coconut fibers. They are watered with nutrients by modern system.

On average, he harvests about 70kg of vegetable a day and earns about VND600 million per year.
