Hoi An wins Wanderlust Travel Awards 2015

(QNO) - With a 94.12 percent satisfaction rating from readers surveyed by the British travel magazine  Wanderlust, Hoi An ancient town of Vietnam  was selected and ranked third among the world’s 10 favorite cities in 2015 (after Bagan city, Myanmar, 97.50%) and  Luang Prabang ( Laos, 95.71%) .

On 4th February 2015, Hoi An city was presented the Wanderlust Travel Awards 2015. Wanderlust also  listed this World cultural heritage in “Top 10 most attractive and interesting  destinations in Vietnam” (after Ha Long Bay and Ha Noi city). Vietnam was selected and ranked among “Top 10 favorite countries  in the world” by Wanderlust’s readers.  

Besides beautiful landscapes and tourism sites, Wanderlust introduced “Hoi An-covering an area of 60sq.km- has 22.5sq.km of agricultural and forestry land and 11sq.km of lakes and channels. It was the first place in Vietnam to host a Car Free Day and the first location in the central province to launch the 3-R (reduce, reuse and recycle) programme while promoting the use of reusable bags.

The city created  pedestrian streets in its old quarter in 2002 and installed a solar-powered lighting system in Hoai River Square. The Hoai River and its channels was also in the list of 10 most famous canals in the world in 2012 by the US travel website Touropia.

Located along the coast of the South China Sea in South Central Vietnam, Hoi An is a beautiful, old city. The city’s historic architecture, traditional culture and textiles make it a popular destination in Vietnam. The heart of Hoi An is the Old Town which is small enough to walk around easily. The narrow, winding lanes of the Old Town are lined with beautiful old architecture, traditional wooden houses and hundreds of tailor shops selling clothing, shoes, bags, souvenirs …

In 2012, Hoi An was ranked in the Top ten Asian cities for US magazine Conde Nast's Traveler's Readers Choice Awards. The following year, the UNESCO-recognised world heritage city was chosen  the Townscape Award by the UN-Habitat Regional Office in Asia.
