Hoi An welcomes the 8-millionth visitor to get the entrance ticket

(QNO) - On the afternoon of January 28, Hoi An city People’s Committee welcomed the 8- millionth visitor to the ancient town (from 15 October, 1995 – the date of Hoi An Tourism Guide Office).

The lucky visitor was Bui Thi Duong, a Vietnamese-American, who was part of a tour conducted by Saigontourist Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism, along with 12 other overseas Vietnamese. Two lucky others, the 7,999,999th and 8,000,001st visitors chosen randomly from the entry ticket series were also offered souvenirs.

Ms Duong said this was the first time she had come to Hoi An; and she became a lucky person. The ancient town was very impressive to her and she hoped to come back there.

According to Vice Chairman of Hoi An city People’s Committee Nguyen Van Son, the number of 8 million tourists to Hoi An ancient town shows that Hoi An tourism is in the right direction and has a sustainable development. It is the motive force for Hoi An to continue its tourism stimulating programs in 2016.
