(QNO) - Hoi An (Quang Nam province), a heritage and tourism centre in Central Vietnam plans to build a smart city.
Smart solutions
In addition to more than 200 smart cameras in households in Hoi An ancient town, 15 ones more have just been installed in Chua Cau (Japanese Bridge) area.
An utility software has been put into operation to provide information and receive feedback from local people and visitors. According to Vice Chairman of the Hoi An city’s People's Committee Nguyen Van Son, smart tourism has been applied in the city. It is a part of a smart urban area by using information and communication technology to create a tourism ecosystem and mutual benefits for tourists, authorities, businesses and directions, towards hi-quality tourism industry.
Sustainable itinerary
At the beginning of this year, Hoi An city and Wernigerode city (Germany) were given the German award for the sustainable urban development. This award is annually given to the organizations, businesses and individuals that make great contributions to environmental protection and sustainable development.
In 2013, Hoi an was selected as an Asian landscape city by UN HABITAT because of its sustainable urban development attachment to the local daily life, green trees, fresh air, security safety.
Besides, Hoi An city owns UNESCO world heritages consisting of Hoi An ancient town and Cham Islands World Biosphere Reserve. So, Hoi An authorities have affirmed urban development is always the connection between cultural and biological diversity.
