Hoi An tourism: opportunities and challenges

(QNO) - Hoi An tourism- integration and sustainable development is the topic of a seminar that has just been held in Hoi An city (Quang Nam province). At the event, representatives of 120 tour operators and tourism partners discussed the difficulties and solutions to sustainable development of Hoi An tourism in the period of integration.

According to Chairman of the Quang Nam Tourism Association Vo Van Van, Quang Nam and Hoi An tourism has not had an effective and attractive chain of tourism products yet as it is expected. Vice Chairman of the Hoi An City People's Committee Nguyen Van Son mentioned the challenges Hoi An faces such as urbanization and integration, lack of new tourism products, lack of human resources for tourism, and environmental problems. Therefore, the development of new tourism products with high cultural values, cooperation and linkages in tourism are stepped up in order to attract traditional and high-spending visitors. In addition, it is necessary to train and develop human resources for tourism, to strengthen Hoi An tourism promotion.

According to statistics, Hoi An is still one the world’s best destinations. It is attracting more and more visitors. Integration is not only a challenge but also an opportunity for Hoi An tourism to grow more. So Hoi An needs the supports in mechanisms and polices from local authorities. It is also essential to speed up using e-ticket, further the restoration and preservation of heritage values, popularize information about Hoi An ancient town, strengthen the propaganda and promotion of Hoi An tourism.
