(QNO) - Hoi An has just won the world best charming city in 2019 by the Travel & Leisure.
Hoi An was voted as the most charming city in the world in 2019 by Travel&Leisure readers. It is in central Vietnam on the coast of the East Vietnam Sea belonging to Quang Nam province, about 30 km from Da Nang city.
Hoi An used to be a busy international trade port where Japanese, Chinese and Western merchants did their businesses during the 17th and 18th centuries. Earlier, it was the Champa trade port on the marine silk route.
A majority of houses, temples and pagodas here are in structural styles of the 17th and 18th centuries. It is found in Hoi An a mixture of eastern and western cultures, especially Japanese and Chinese.
Hoi An was recognized as the world cultural heritage in 1999.
