The first impression on visitors who enter the Hoi An silk village is the lush garden of 40 big mulberry trees. According to Mr Le Thai Vu, the owner of this village, They are Champa mulberry trees which were found in many mountainous regions of Quang Nam province. Some of them are over 100 years old.

Another attractive feature of Hoi An silk village is the collection of 100 old costumes of 54 ethnic minority peoples of Vietnam and of Vietnamese court dresses.

Here, the visitors will also have a chance to live, experience in the space of an ancient village where the young girls in their traditional dress are refining cocoons and weaving silk like their ancestors worked one century ago.

“Hoi An Silk village is not only a trading place, but also a cultural point, where all values of Quang Nam silk-worm occupation are honoured. I expect to restore a traditional craft village which has been died out,” said Mr Vu.

Coming here, the guests will be shown how to harvest mulberry leaves, feed silkworms. They can also see the silkworms cocooning, how cocoons are transformed into silk thread and how the silk is treated and refined to become ready for clothing. All steps are carried out manually with the facilities which were used hundreds years ago. All products that are made at this silk village such as hand bags, shirts, skirts, shawls meet quality demand.
