Hoi An public buses

(QNO) - The first public bus route around the city was tested in Hoi An on February 26^th and 27^th.

The route (about 10km) goes past 2 beaches, hotels, resorts and 7 schools with 10 stops. It lies in the Hoi An public bus project consulted by Shinichi Mochizuki, coordinator of “European Traffic Week” in Japan.

This bus route runs through some attractive sites of Hoi An (such as Tra Que vegetable village, An Bang beach, Cua Dai beach) and through the universities, under-, upper- and primary schools in the city. It is from 8 am to 9pm every day with 53 trips. It takes 50 minutes to finish a trip, including 23 minutes to move and 30 minutes to pick up passengers at 10 stops.

Tourists are interested in the bus route.

All the passengers in this bus were free during the two days of experiment. They could give their comments and opinions for a better bus route in the future.

According to Mr. Shinichi Mochizuki, traffic is very important to a tourist city, especially to an eco-city as Hoi An.

Hoi An also has some advantages to exploit public buses, said he, because it has some pedestrian streets and the roads served for bikes. Public bus is a smart choice for this city.

There were nearly 300 passengers using public buses during the testing days. Most of them were tourists staying at the hotels in Hoi An.
