(QNO) - Reported from the Center for Culture, Sports, Radio and Television of Hoi An city (Quang Nam province), Wernigerode ancient town in Germany will be lit up by hundreds of the handmade lanterns in Hoi An city from August 23 to 25.

During 3 days of the festival, the craftsmen, artists and chefs from Hoi An will perform their skills at the market in front of the Historic Town Hall of Wernigerode. So, visitors to the festival can enjoy a variety of delicious dishes from Southeast Asia including Vietnam. The event will attract both German and Vietnamese artists, singers and musicians.
Besides, the experts from Hoi An and Wernigerode will introduce visitors the projects on twinning between two cities, economic cooperation between companies from the two sides, human resource training program for hotels, restaurants, installation of solar power farms in Hoi An, the exchange program between Wernigerode’s Gerhart Hauptmann Grammar school and Hoi An’s Kim Dong school, response to climate change and sustainable development.

In 2013, Hoi An and Wernigerode signed an agreement to establish the relationship of twin towns based on a sustainable urban partnership. Since then, Hoi An Lantern Festivals have been organized in Wernigerode ancient town.
Wernigerode is a small city in Harz County with its population of about 35,000 people and more than 2,000 old houses. Hoi An ancient town was recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999.
