(QNO) - Hoi An People’s Committee decided to organize “Hoi An flower lantern festival 2015” on August 27th, 2015 (Vu Lan festival – the 15th day of seventh month of lunar calendar) on Hoai River and An Hoi Sculpture Garden. This is the first official flower lantern festival, aiming to create new tourism product in the future.
The highlights of this festival are the art installation of flower lanterns on Hoai River and the performance “A rose pinned on shirt” - expressing big gratitude of the mothers for their merit of giving birth and nurturing as well as honoring the examples of filial piety.
The 13th Hoi An – Japan cultural exchange, 2015 will be held on this occasion. This year, the event will take place from August 28th-30th at the Hoi An ancient town with many activities which are considered as new trend of Japanese culture in Vietnam such as: Cosplay, Yasakoi dance, Japanese sword drawing art, Kirrigami, Yukata photographing, Diplay of Haiku calligraphy, Bonsai art of Japan, star watching with a telescope…In addition, the handicraft carpentry skills competition also will take place at An Hoi Sculpture Garden.
Besides, there are many activities about health and environment such as: parade and forum “One hour for a cleaner Hoi An”, “Hoi An, a smoke – free tourist city” with the participation of Hoi An, Japanese and international volunteers.
