(QNO) - Besides glistening lanterns, Hoi An city (Quang Nam province) is busy with colourful flowers, the locals preparing for the Tet and visitors enjoying the spring here when the Tet comes near. Flowers appear everywhere in the city. The locals’ friendly smiles at visitors seem to be more with the hope of a lucky and happy new year sent to them.
Traditional species of flowers are the most popular with both the locals and visitors in flower markets. They are daisy, kumquat, sunflower, marigold and apricot.
People coming flower markets both enjoy the beauty of flowers and choose some species for their house decoration. Therefore, they are very crowded.
Foreign families living in Hoi An are also excited by the Tet holidays. They are busy preparing for the event, decorating their houses with Vietnamese traditional flowers, and welcoming the lunar New Year. They feel happy in the warm atmosphere of the traditional Vietnamese New Year.
During the Tet holidays, there are a large number of visitors to Hoi An. They often take a sightseeing tour around the ancient town and the city to enjoy the beauty of the landscapes here. They also visit traditional craft villages in Hoi An such as Kim Bong carpentry village, Thanh Ha pottery village, and Tra Que vegetable village. Cooking-class tour is also attractive to visitors in this period of time.
Visitors are very excited when making some traditional Vietnamese foods with the locals such as bánh chưng (square glutinous rice cake) and jam. They love attending some local activities such as harvesting vegetables, making pottery pigs, cleaning and decorating the villages and houses.
