High-tech preservation of Cham relics

(QNO) - On June 29th, Quang Nam People’s Committee held a scientific workshop “Application of high technology in preserving Cham relics of Quang Nam” led by Mr. Le Van Thanh, Mr. Nguyen Chin, Deputy Chairmans of PPC and Professor Nguyen Quoc Si from Russia Moskva National Energy University. Present at the workshop were many domestic and international professors, doctors and researchers.

The workshop

Many speeches and opinions on application of high technology in preserving Cham relics were presented at the workshop. After 8 researching months in some Cham towers of Quang Nam, the Russian experts suggested the application of chemical technology in protecting and waterproofing for brick surface, heating brick surface for restoring the relics. This workshop was expected to provide a scientific basis of applying innovative and suitable solutions to protect relics from destruction.

* On the same day, the Russian experts visited My Son relic to test the impact of time, wind, rain, moss, radiation…on the relics as well as the samples so that they could find out the most suitable solutions to their conservation.
