Heritage conservation and promotion

Since Hoi An ancient town and My Son Sanctuary was recognized as UNESCO’s world cultural heritages, Quang Nam has carried out a lot of methods for heritage management, preservation, restoration and promotion. Human resource training has been attached special importance. Besides, planning is also centered along with the propaganda and increase of the locals’ awareness of heritage protection and preservation.

That Hoi An becomes an attractive to visitors is a motivation of local socio-economic development, contributing to raising the locals’ incomes, improving their lives, and increasing the resources for relic preservation, renovation and restoration. Meanwhile, community tourism is considered one of the main methods for conservation and promotion of the heritage. The number of visitors to two cultural heritages increases steadily year by year, contributing to the local socio-economic development.

The problem of heritage environment is also paid much attention. Quang Nam tries to make the environment there clean and beautiful. Residents in the heritage regions should be trained to be friendly and hospitable to visitors, have a great respect to heritages and awareness of heritage conservation and promotion. However, the increase of visitors to the heritages will result in bad impacts on heritages; therefore, it is necessary to control and run the stream of visitors in order to reduce the pressure on the heritages.

Local people play an important role in conservation and promotion of the heritages because they are the owners of the heritages. It is necessary to make the locals aware that they benefit directly from heritages, so they have to protect and preserve the heritages. Quang Nam authorities are responsible for planning three regions of heritages, building plans to conserve and promote the heritage values.
