(QNO) - A seminar on green tourism development and indigenous value preservation in combination with the announcement ceremony of green tourism criteria was jointly held in Hoi An city on March 26 by the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee and Investor Magazine.
Green tourism development is an inevitable trend in the strategy for sustainable growth, which can be found in a lot of countries around the world.
In 2021, the Government of Vietnam issued Decision No.1658 on the national strategy for green growth in the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
Tourism is an integrated service economy in nature that is inter-sectoral, inter-regional and highly socialized. Green tourism plays an important role in the implementation of national goals of green growth.
According to Deputy Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People's Committee (PPC) Tran Van Tan, Quang Nam has a lot of potential and advantages in tourism development.
It is, in fact, a tourist attraction that is popular with local and foreign visitors.
On August 10, 2021, a provincial plan for green tourism development was put into action; then a set of criteria for green tourism was established on December 4, 2021.
So, Quang Nam is the first place in Vietnam to announce the green tourism criteria that are considered to be proper when tourism activities are reopened in the new normal.
Meanwhile, the seminar on green tourism development and indigenous value preservation was also a chance for Quang Nam to talk about the significance of green tourism, look for solutions for local tourism recovery and development.
Quang Nam chooses green tourism because it supports sustainable development.
At the same time, green tourism is also a way to better provincial tourism products, contributing to natural and cultural resources, environmental protection, and climate change adaption.
So, Quang Nam plans to build green spaces for urban and tourism development, creating more green tourism products.
Accordingly, there are 8 solutions for green tourism development, including raising community awareness; integrating green tourism development with provincial and sectoral plans; effectively deploying the set of green tourism criteria; developing green tourism products and services, human resources training for green tourism; giving the advice on mechanisms and policies to support green tourism development; strengthening linkages and cooperation in developing green tourism between enterprises inside and outside Quang Nam, between travel businesses, accommodation establishments and tourist sites; speeding up green tourism promotion.
Quang Nam is known to have several green tourism products adapting to the green tourism criteria announced that are very popular with local and foreign visitors and tourists.
