General project of the national product development for Vietnamese ginseng

(QNO) - The national product development project for Vietnamese ginseng (Ngoc Linh ginseng) under the National Product Development Program until 2020 has been approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The project focuses on sustainable development of Vietnamese or Ngoc Linh ginseng products of national standard based on science and technology. The quality of Ngoc Linh ginseng products does not only meet the domestic demand but international markets. The project contributes to poverty alleviation, job creation, and improvement of the living standards of ethnic minorities in the mountainous areas of ginseng plantation in Quang Nam and Kon Tum provinces, the development of the Vietnamese raw ginseng and ginseng products areas with 50 tons a year, towards 500 tons by 2030.

The project also aims to master the technological process of seed production, cultivation, taking care, harvest, dealing with raw ginseng materials and production of valuable ginseng products. It will help to raise the productivity, quality, scale and values of Vietnamese ginseng products; to build strategies and solutions to protect, exploit and enforce intellectual property rights for the sustainable development of Vietnamese ginseng effectively.

Main contents of the project are the application of technologies in seed selection and production on the industrial scale, development of a concentrated model of ginseng cultivation in Vietnam to ensure its quality and efficiency, diversification of high quality Vietnamese ginseng products, pharmacological and clinical researches on Ngoc Linh ginseng to confirm its values. In addition, the project supports at least 10 enterprises investing into Ngoc Linh ginseng cultivation, making products from Ngoc Linh ginseng with market development and product commercialization, well-qualified human resources.

All the project is about the sustainable development of Vietnamese ginseng and its products.
