(QNO) - Quang Nam is proactive and creative in mobilising aids from foreign NGOs (non-governmental organisations), according to an assessment shared by the Interdisciplinary Inspection Team in a meeting with the Quang Nam provincial People's Committee on October 30.
Reportedly, there were 77 foreign NGOs and individuals conducting aid projects in Quang Nam from September 2022 to September 2024. Most of them came from the U.S., Australia, South Korea, Japan, the UK, and France. Quang Nam managed 582 delegations with 3,895 humanitarian visits.
During that period, Quang Nam got 161 non-refundable aid packages totalling more than VND455 billion from foreign sources. VND41.6 billion of these packages focused on education, healthcare, and environmental fields, supporting socio-economic development and welfare, especially for remote and vulnerable communities.
Trinh Thi Mai Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, commended Quang Nam's proactive approach in attracting foreign NGO aid.
According to Deputy Chairman of the Quang Nam People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan, foreign NGOs have contributed to socio-economic development and promoted Quang Nam internationally.
The province has always supported these activities within legal bounds and sees this as an opportunity to improve aid management and effectiveness.
