(QNO) - An exhibition of photos and objects relating to My Son Sanctuary preservation and development has just been opened by the Management Board of My Son Cultural Heritage Site.
The event is one of activities to celebrate the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23) and 20 years of My Son Sanctuary recognized as a UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage (December 4, 1999 – December 4, 2019).
More than 150 artifacts and photo panels have been displayed at the campus of My Son Museum, helping visitors understand the preservation and development of My Son Sanctuary. The exhibition partly honors the efforts of many managers, experts, skilled workers at home and abroad.
My Son Sanctuary was built from the 4th to 13th centuries with nearly 70 buildings remaining in the heart of My Son valley. The conservation of this tower complex was started from the late 19th century to early 20th century by French and Vietnamese experts. However, this work was devastated and disrupted by war.
Since 1975, My Son Sanctuary has been restored and revived with the supports from foreign governments, partners and experts such as Poland, Italy, Japan and India. My Son Sanctuary was recognized as an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999.
The exhibition lasts until December 4.
