(QNO) - An exhibition of Japanese dolls is taking place in Danang city from May 30 to June 20, 2023.
The event is aimed at celebrating the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations.
Dolls play an indispensable part in Japanese daily life. They reflect Japanese culture, customs, aspirations, and beliefs that have existed for centuries.
There are about 70 dolls exhibited in two sections at the event. In the first section, visitors can see 32 model dolls describing a variety of characters from children to adults in the setting of daily life to theatre.
The second section is the place for Kokesi wooden dolls, which is known to be born in the 19th century in Tohoku (the Northeast of Japan).
Kokeshi dolls are rather diversified with their own patterns and craft techniques. Among 12 types of Kokeshi exhibited at the event are 5 inspired by Vietnamese culture.
