Vietnam to resume international flights


(QNO) - Vietnam will pilot the resumption of regular international commercial flights as of January 1, 2022.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the resumption of regular international commercial flights is of the plan aimed at speeding up national economic, tourism included, recovery.

It also facilitates overseas Vietnamese return home on the occasion of the Lunar New Year. However, it is essential to make sure of the effectiveness of the Covid-19 prevention and control.

The flights will be resumed, including the ones between Vietnam and Beijing/Guangzhou (China), Tokyo (Japan), Seoul (South Korea), Taipei (Taiwan, China), Bangkok (Thailand), Singapore, Vientiane (Laos), Phnom Penh (Cambodia) and San Francisco/Los Angeles (the US).

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked the Ministry of Health to be prompt in providing the medical guidance, which should be discussed with experts, businesses and people, for passengers entering Vietnam on regular international commercial flights.

He also requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in combination with the Ministry of Health, to speed up negotiations and reach agreements with other countries and territories on mutual recognition of vaccine passports.

The Ministries of Health, Public Security, and Information and Communications are told to immediately discuss and publish a medical declaration software to facilitate the air travellers’ health declaration, activities of aviation enterprises and the tracing of people on entry.

The Ministry of Information and Communications is asked to coordinate with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Transport, and press agencies to make people understand the purpose and significance of the resumption of regular international flights.

Concurrently, the effectiveness of the Covid-19 prevention and control must be ensured.

The Ministry of Transport is asked to guide airlines to resume regular international flights as being planned. Then, they have to give feedback to promptly make adjustments fit for actual situations.
