(QNO) -The development of the Eastern region is considered as a key for the socioeconomic development of Quang Nam.
Building dynamic zones
After over 10 years of implementing the planning of the Eastern region of Quang Nam towards 2020, with a vision to 2030, Quang Nam built its Eastern region in the model of multi-clusters.
3 main dynamic clusters were formed, including Dien Ban- Hoi An, South Hoi An with Duy Xuyen- Que Son-Thang Binh, and Chu Lai area with Tam Ky- Phu Ninh- Nui Thanh.
The common goal is to develop new urban areas with properties and functions associated with the characteristics of each region.
The replanning of the Eastern region in this period needs to set up the urban and rural areas, functional areas, and infrastructure system suitable for the current socio-economic development.
At the same time, the districts of Eastern Quang Nam are closely related to each other and receive mutual support.
So, the replanning now focuses on the inter-district development on the base of cultural and socio-economic growth of each cluster.
It is also necessary to restore the specific ecosystem and biodiversity to raise the adaptability to climate change and safety against natural disasters; to use natural resources sustainably; to develop a sustainable agricultural economy, tourism and services, and green industry.
In addition, key project groups in this region should be rearranged and come into operation effectively.
The Chu Lai Open Economic Zone is developed in the model of a general economic zone, towards a driving economic zone of the Central key economic region and of Vietnam.
Riverside planning
The system of rivers plays an important role in setting up urban and rural areas that are harmonious with nature, responding to climate change.
The Eastern region of Quang Nam province belongs to the downstream areas of 3 rivers- Thu Bon, Truong Giang and Co Co.
The planning of these areas, especially the downstream area of the Thu Bon river with a lot of cultural and ecological advantages, is regarded as a great support to the growth of Eastern Quang Nam.
Therefore, the planning of the East region in the new phase will be based on the rivers and implemented at the same time with the planning of the Truong Giang and Co Co rivers, the downstream Thu Bon.
There will be some eternal green corridor attached to Hoi An and My Son urban areas, the riverside of Truong Giang and Co Co, the ecological area of Phu Ninh, and some east-west green agricultural corridors.
Dynamic projects
Several dynamic projects implemented in Eastern Quang Nam help stabilise the local budget revenue, creating jobs for the locals.
Synchronous infrastructure in the planning of the Eastern region of Quang Nam province facilitates the development of the localities in the region.
Transportation infrastructure is an example. The coastal street connecting Da Nang city, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai creates favourable conditions for the development of industry, tourism and services, promoting the local socio-economic growth.
According to Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People's Committee Le Tri Thanh, 6 groups of dynamic projects in this region has been identified; so, the province will continue to improve its investment climate to attract more investors.
In the near future, there will be a change in the economic structure of the Eastern region. Tourism and services will become the key economic sector there.
