Making a presentation at the national conference on regional socio-economic development, national defence and security assurance in Central Vietnam, and regional investment promotion, Chairman of the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee Le Tri Thanh has talked about industrial growth in the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone (OEZ).

In particular, Quang Nam will focus on the development of service industries and coastal urban areas.

Quang Nam will keep on developing the automotive industry along with mechanical auxiliary industries in the Chu Lai OEZ, building it a new-generation industrial ecosystem.

THACO (Truong Hai Auto Corporation) is the core from which a link chain is formed in auxiliary mechanical industry between THACO and small and medium-sized enterprises in Central Vietnam and other regions.

Besides, the Chu Lai OEZ will develop the deep processing industry of agricultural products in which THACO is the leading.

Quang Nam is currently planning for a 50-thousand-ton vessel channel and a road to Nam Giang Border Gate Economic Zone through Laos and Thailand, thereby, creating a competitive advantage in terms of logistics costs.

At the same time, Quang Nam has advantages of natural medicinal herbs; so, it is also necessary to develop the deep processing industry of natural medicinal products.

Furthermore, Quang Nam will develop the aviation industry. Covering in an area of 2,000 hectares, Chu Lai airport may be developed into a centre for international aviation services, repair and maintenance of aircrafts of different kinds, manufacturing and assembly of aviation components, pilot training, etc.
