(QNO) - At a working session with Quang Nam leaders on March 27, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh (PM Chinh) approved of the strategies for turning the provincial Eastern region into a driving force for breakthroughs.
In the time to come, Quang Nam has to create new potential, opportunities and favourable conditions for the provincial sustainable green development.
Chu Lai international airport and Chu Lai seaport are considered strategic infrastructure for Quang Nam provincial socio-economic development.
At the same time, the provincial eastern region is identified as a driving force for development. However, they become the blockage that needs removing.
Quang Nam proposed the right of self-determination to plan projects on socialization of investment and exploitation of Chu Lai airport and seaport; building operating mechanisms at Tam Quang non-tariff zone attached to Chu Lai airport, Tam Hoa non-tariff and logistics zones attached to Chu Lai seaport, doing the planning of a container logistics centre at Chu Lai port.
The infrastructure will be invested synchronously in the eastern region of Quang Nam province so that there are enough spaces for cultural, social and public constructions.
Quang Nam also suggested adjusting its general planning for the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone (OEZ), piloting a mechanism for production cooperation in groups or sectors, forming a national key ecosystem of supporting industries in the Chu Lai OEZ.
At the same time, national highways 14D and 14E will also be widened, connecting with the East-West Economic Corridor, creating more breakthroughs for the provincial eastern region.
Moreover, Quang Nam wanted to use the whole revenue at two world cultural heritages for their conservation, restoration and embellishment of relics, for environmental protection, and for infrastructure improvement.
It is also proposed to establish the fund for Quang Nam heritage conservation in order to buy privately owned ancient houses and to build Cham- My Son cultural museum.
In addition, Quang Nam would like to have a special mechanism for preservation and promotion of Hoi An ancient town, to set up a project on socialization of conservation, restoration and promotion of My Son Sanctuary.
Creating conditions for development
PM Chinh basically accepted Quang Nam leaders’ suggestions and asked central ministries and services support Quang Nam to remove the bottlenecks.
As an airport plays a strategic position, Chu Lai airport needs upgrading and its problems need dealing with via public-private partnerships or socialisation.
Regarding Chu Lai seaport and logistics services, the Ministry of Transport and Quang Nam province complete the procedures in accordance with the law.
PM Chinh approved of widening national highways to connect with the western region and building new routes.
He proposed to make some projects on building an industrial centre for silica, dredging the Truong Giang river.
