(QNO) - The SEAISI Conference and Exhibition 2024 took place in Da Nang on May 13, 2024. Its topic was “Surviving and thriving in the decarbonised world”.

The conference was a great opportunity for Vietnam to introduce its steel industry and steel enterprises to other countries in the region.

At the same time, the conference was also a chance for related parties to share technological innovations and find solutions for the development of a green and circular economy.

At the conference, representatives of local and international organisations, experts, scientists, and businessmen exchanged multi-dimensional information about international, regional, and local regulations, policies, and laws in order to help steel enterprises invest and develop in accordance with the country's and international green growth strategies.

According to Nghiem Xuan Da, Chairman of the Vietnam Steel Association, in the current global greening trend, it is necessary to apply technologies and artificial intelligence to improve productivity, reduce CO2 emissions, and ensure social and environmental responsibility for a green economy.

Vietnamese steel companies should make every effort to reduce carbon emissions and save energy in the future.

Reportedly, steel industry has a great economic and technical significance but it is one of the world’s three major greenhouse gas emitters with 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Vietnam is now one of the leading steel manufacturers in ASEAN and ranked 12th in the world in 2023.

Giving a speech at the conference, Tran Chi Cuong, Deputy Chairman of the Danang City People’s Committee said that it is important to develop the Southeast Asian and Vietnamese steel industries in adaption to global green growth strategies.

Danang City has also constantly taking measures to reduce CO2 emissions, increase the use of renewable energy sources, and protect the environment.

It is believed that the application of innovations and technical advances in the steel industry plays an important role in adapting to climate change, keeping global temperatures from rising.
